Soapbox Science Uppsala 2022
Soapbox Science aims to bring cutting edge science to the public, in an accessible, fun and unintimidating way, and to promote women scientist and the research they do.
Unlike other science events, at Soapbox Science the audience will not have necessarily planned to come and learn about science, which can inspire people who never normally get exposed to science, especially young people.
Soapbox Science events are organised all over the world and this is the second time in Uppsala. Here you will be able to learn about subjects ranging from atoms, molecules and drug design, infertility and the human placenta, to magnets, lake algae, soil carbon, Atlantic herring and sea ecosystems. You can also hear about the importance of verbal communication and psychological support for parents of children treated for cancer.
When: 21 May at 13.00 to 16.00
Where: Celsiustorget in central Uppsala
How: The event runs for three hours and each hour will host four speakers, who stand on (or next to) wooden boxes and interact with the public.
